Neil Young – A Letter Home

2012’s Psychedelic Pill was a surprise, but Neil Young’s two albums released in 2014 suggest he wants to leave this world the same way he started with his debut: fucking cluelessly. “It’s better to burn out than to fade away,” he says to himself as he charges his fans for shitty product. Anthology of American Folk Music is an artifact; tuneful, warm and inviting. This is a gimmick with no memorable tunes. And why wouldn’t Jack White give this the green light? He deals in gimmicks too.
